In my opinion a hotel must reflect the character of the place in which it stands, and shoul suggest "a travel within the travel", while giving its own interpretation of the city, the district, and the street on to which it opens.
With regards to the rue de Bellechasse, one must thing in terms of the 19th century aesthetics of the Museum of Orsay, with the old furniture of famous antique dealers, of the neo-classicism of the surrounding architecture but also of the art galleries, contemporary furniture and a unconventional way of life which were, since always, the axies of Faubourg St Germain – an area whose charm, strength and elegance come from this balance between tradition and audacity, past and present, upper middle class and dolce vita, symbolising for me the spirit of Paris.
On reflexion, we intend to proportion all these ingredients in fonction of all the places to be reinvented.

Ideally located, the Hotel de Varenne is a historic treasure dating from the 19th century, decorated with refinement in a Louis XVI and Empire style. Lying in the centre of Paris, the quiet and safe Rue de Bourgogne opens out on one end to the Rodin Museum and, on the other end, to the building of the National Assembly and lies near the Embassies and Ministries. This recently renovated townhouse distinguishes itself by its personalised reception.
The origins of the hotel's name:
Varenne comes from the word ‘garenne’ (a wooded area where rabbits live in the wild). In the XVIth century, there was a large ‘garenne’ here, a hunting fief belonging to the counts of Saint-Germain. Footpaths took hold and they were soon lined with private mansions whose construction started during the XVIIIth century.
The hotel’s coat of arms refers to the history of the district: three rabbits from a ‘garenne’ symbolising the 3 star of the establishment, the crown of the Duke of Bourgogne as well as the coat of arms of Bourgogne.
